ELEGANT & ELEVATED WEDDING FAVORS

Wedding favors can be a divisive topic. Many couples feel they are an unnecessary expense and, it’s true, in many cases guests won’t miss them. They are not a “necessary” part of the wedding and if your budget or taste don’t allow, you can absolutely skip. However, if you choose to offer guests a little souvenir, think of your friends and loved ones and what kind of items they’d truly want.

Although there are always exceptions, we tend to gravitate towards edible or usable favors, instead of monogrammed items that take up space in their home. Whatever it is, make sure it’s good quality - something you’d enjoy receiving as a gift. If you’d like to offer a keepsake, functional items are often a good choice - monogrammed tote bags, umbrellas, or blankets are fun, and practical, choices to give guests something to remember the day by.

Picnic Size Good Quality Olive Oil

We adore Brightland’s mini but at $20 per bottle, it’s a better for micro-weddings. A mini organic Greek oil like this one for half the price is a nice choice.

Stonewall Kitchen Jam

Maine-based gourmet food company Stonewall Kitchen offers minis of their jams - and discounts for buying larger quantities. Their website offers 24 Wild Blueberry Mini Jams for about $100, a very good deal, especially considering that the jam is one we would happily gift friends in any setting.

Sweet Treats

A to-go dessert for a late night snack or treat on the trip home is a great choice. We love Baked by Melissa’s mini cupcakes, Tiny Tate’s chocolate chip cookies, or even individually packaged custom oreos (you can design with colorful sprinkles or even a photo!).

Gift Nostalgia

Offer candies from your childhood, mini games (they sell mini etch-a-sketch and many other mini versions of classic toys!), or even holiday crackers for a fun end to the evening. Meri Meri offers a variety of gorgeous cracker and surprise balls that can complement almost any theme.

Local or Handmade

You can’t go wrong with local or handmade goods. If you and your partner are known for making incredible fudge—and have the time and energy—it can be a heartfelt and memorable parting gift. Guests love a personal touch, especially when it’s homemade.

Local items are also a great choice, particularly when many guests are traveling from out of town. Instead of traditional favors at the end of the night, consider offering a welcome bag or gift upon arrival. Think local guidebooks, snacks from nearby makers, or a beautifully designed NYC map with your favorite spots marked.

Most hotels are happy to hand out welcome gifts at check-in or place them in guests’ rooms as a surprise. It’s a thoughtful way to make everyone feel appreciated and excited for the weekend ahead.
